DE PROFUNDIS –
AUS DER TIEFE
DE PROFUNDIS – OUT OF THE DEPTHS
Where Black and White meet
A series of reduced black-and-white works exploring depth, density, and presence.
Image and poetic fragments meet as parallel resonances, remaining deliberately open.

DE PROFUNDIS – AUS DER TIEFE
paper, acrylic, lyrical fragments | 2025
DE PROFUNDIS – AUS DER TIEFE is a body of work that explores states of inner depth, presence, and resonance through reduced black-and-white compositions.
Grounded in materiality, layering, and density, the works resist narrative resolution and remain deliberately open.
Rather than illustrating meaning, the images function as fields of projection, inviting individual perception and interpretation.
Fragments of poetry — including texts by Paul Celan and Ingeborg Bachmann — appear alongside the works as parallel resonances, allowing image and language to meet without hierarchy.
The series was presented at Literaturhaus Henndorf in 2025, unfolding across several spaces and encouraging a slow, contemplative engagement.

ON THE TITLES OF THE SERIES
The titles in the series DE PROFUNDIS follow a deliberately non-narrative system. Terms such as Level and numerical coordinates do not refer to geographical locations or measurable data, but function as internal markers within the series. They indicate relative positions, depths, or states within an imagined inner space, without fixing meaning or interpretation. Rather than naming what is seen, the titles provide orientation — a quiet structure that supports the work while remaining abstract. The system is consistent throughout the series, yet intentionally opaque, allowing the images themselves to remain primary.
COLLECTIVE INTERPRETATIONS
As part of the exhibition, visitors were invited to respond to three selected works from DE PROFUNDIS – AUS DER TIEFE.
Alongside poetic texts by the artist and AI-generated interpretations, visitors contributed their own handwritten reflections, impressions, and fragments.
These responses extend the work into a shared space of resonance, where image and language continue to unfold beyond the artist’s authorship.
The collected contributions are presented as photographic documentation, preserving the individuality and immediacy of each encounter.
STUDIO NOTES
The works in IN PROFUNDIS – AUS DER TIEFE emerged from a process that is intuitive, inward, and largely non-verbal. Rather than starting from a predefined concept, I work with black acrylic paint on paper, allowing forms, tensions, and densities to surface gradually. During this process, images often appear before language. Associations arise slowly, sometimes ambiguously, and remain unresolved. I am interested in this threshold — where something becomes visible without being fully named. Text enters the work at a later stage. Fragments of poetry, remembered lines, and responses generated by artificial intelligence accompany the images, not as explanations, but as echoes. They reflect how meaning circulates between image, language, and perception. For me, the studio is a space of listening rather than control — a place where intuition, memory, and material meet.
